OVERVIEW
Situated in the eastern Pyrenees, bordered by France and Spain, Andorra is a mountainous country with four rivers running through it as well as many mountain lakes. It is well known for its duty-free condition and its winter sports centers, located mainly in the towns of Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany. The capital of the country is Andorra la Vella lying at the confluence of two mountain streams. Some buildings worth visiting include a 12th-century church and the Casa de la Vall, the ancient seat of government.
Andorran people are mainly Roman Catholic and their official language is Catalan. The country has a temperate, cool and dry climate. The country's currency is the Euro. Access to the country is only possible by road since there are no direct air or rail service. The closest international airport is in Barcelona, Spain, with a daily bus service. The French and Spanish railways stop near the border, where a daily bus meets the trains.
