OVERVIEW
Located in central France, Tours is built on the site of a Roman town and was once the capital of the Kingdom of France.
Places of interest in Tours include the Place Plumereau, packed with cafes, boutiques and galleries; Place St. Pierre le Puellier, a square with a Romanesque church converted into a cafe; the Cathedrale St Gatien, featuring a Gothic facade and medieval stained glass windows; the Hotel Gouin, formerly a silk merchant's house and now an archaeological museum; and the Musee de Beaux Arts, located in the former episcopal palace.
Since Tours is also a university city, there is a lot of nightlife together with interesting bars, charming cafes and restaurants.
