OVERVIEW
A Gulf Coast town near the border with US, Tampico is a fishing port and an oil-refining center.
Some of its attractions include the old part of the town, resembling New Orleans French Quarter; Plaza de la Libertad, near the harbor and surrounded by old colonial buildings; Plaza de Armas, where the City Hall is located; the Museum of Huasteca Culture; and Playa Miramar, a public beach where most locals relax.
