OVERVIEW
At the edge of Mexico's Baja Peninsula, Los Cabos (The Capes) comprises a beach area of 20 miles, with Cabo San Lucas to the south and the city of San Jose del Cabo to the north.
The Pericu Indians were the original inhabitants. In 1730, Jesuit priests founded the town of San Jose del Cabo, thus establishing their first mission here. Because of its key location, Cabo San Lucas became an important navigational point for pirates, who hid behind the Cape to ambush galleons sailing in the Pacific Ocean.
Los Cabos has a wide choice of water sports, amazing scenery, shopping, nightlife as well as plenty of golf courses. But Los Cabos' greatest attraction are, without a doubt, the naturally hewn rock formations that form El Arco, the famous arches at Land's End. Another attraction includes the gray whales which visit the area every year, between January through March, displaying their grace and beauty.
