OVERVIEW
Situated in the state of Baja California Sur, there lie two important resorts: Loreto and La Paz. Since the construction of a highway connecting the peninsula and the arrival of direct international flights to both cities, the area has become a well known destination for holiday-makers.
Loreto and La Paz basically share the same attractions which include fishing, diving, wildlife viewing, sailing and watersports. However the cities are quite different in size and atmosphere.
La Paz (which means 'peace' in Spanish) is the capital of the state and the largest city south of Tijuana on the Baja Peninsula. Despite being a big city and the region's commercial and political center, La Paz is a calm port.
It boasts several overwhelming beaches with white sand and clear, almost turquoise water. Boat excursions take you to various deserted islands with singular natural habitats.
