OVERVIEW
In the Mixteca language Huatulco means 'the place where wood is adored'. Situated 300 km from Oaxaca, it is the capital of the state of that name. It used to be a small beach and fishing village but today it attracts visitors due to its many natural wonders which provide tranquility and relaxation.
With an average temperature of 28 C (82 F), Huatulco boasts virtually unspoiled beaches such as Chachacual, Cacaluta, El Organo and Conejos.
Apart from its excellent accommodation, Huatulco features a great number of shops and galleries (displaying handmade Oaxacan arts and crafts), an 18 hole golf course and a fishing boat harbor.
Activities range from sailing across the nine bays to the majestic Golf Club to discotheques in Tangolunda Bay. Visitors can also enjoy from land tours on horseback or by dune buggy, diving in coral reefs, water skiing, sailing, visiting coffee plantations in the sierra or tasting delicious local lobster.
