OVERVIEW
Huddersfield is set in the foothills of the Pennines, in the county of West Yorkshire, between Manchester and Leeds. The surrounding hills provide visitors with some of the best walking terrain in Britain, angling, sailing, orienteering, hang-gliding and mountain biking.
Huddersfield has a population of about 115,000 and is one of the largest towns in Europe. The population is made up of a vast array of ethnic groups that have a friendly reputation. It has a diverse cultural centre, there is also plenty of rock, indie, classical, jungle and jazz. There are many bars and cafes, traditional ale-houses and first class wine bars and plenty of cheap Indian, Italian and Chinese restaurants and fast-food outlets.
