North Korea
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea borders on China, the Yellow Sea, the Sea of Japan and the demilitarised zone (separating it from the Republic of Korea).
Pyongyang, North Korea's capital, was completely rebuilt after the Korean War. It has become a city of wide avenues, neatly designed parks and huge marble public buildings. The Korean variant of Communist architecture can be appreciated through the Palace of Culture, the Grand Theatre, the Juche Tower and the Ongrui Restaurant. The Gates of Pyongyang and the Arch of Triumph (built in honour of Kim Il-Sung's 70th birthday) are also remarkable.
Kaesong, six hours from the capital by train, has many ancient buildings that are witness to Korea's 500-year-old imperial history. The town is surrounded by pretty pine-clad hills. The country's largest national park, Kumgangsan, consists of a range of mountains known as 'the Diamond Mountain' along the east coast of the country. Some of the attractions include a night at the opera, circuses and musical events of a high quality.
North Korean people are mainly Buddhist and their official language is Korean. The country has hot, rainy summers and cold winters. North Korea's currency is the Won.

South Korea
Bordering the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea, the Republic of Korea boasts a stunning green landscape which has played a major role in the Korean identity.
South Koreans are very fond of nature, so when visiting the country, you will bound to see them out in the open air, having the best of times.
South Korean people are mainly Christian and Buddhist and their official language is Korean. The country has a tropical climate. The country's currency is the South Korean Won.
