Georgetown is the capital city and main port, with comfortable, modern hotels, colonial buildings, and wide, tree-lined boulevards. The Dutch and the British have left their legacy here, which can be appreciated through its impressive wooden architecture. A worth visiting site is the imposing St. George's Cathedral, the tallest wooden building in the world.

Guyana is characterized by mighty rivers, rain forests and jungles, which offer the most exciting destination to the adventurous as they still remain unexplored. Going inland by boat, aircraft or 4x4, visitors will be able to admire the most varied and fantastic wildlife: jaguars and monkeys; otters, caimans and the Arapaima swimming in the rivers of the Rupununi; macaws, toucans and the awe-inspiring Harpy Eagle flying across the sky; as well as more than 700 indigenous species of birds decorating Guyana's forests.

One of the world's great waterfalls, Kaieteur Falls, is found in this land and stands beyond any comparison in its majesty and sheer size. The Orinduik Falls, the Marshall Falls, the Kaieteur Gorge and remote Mount Roraima are also exceptionally beautiful.
