OVERVIEW
Situated in the Caribbean, Grenada is of volcanic origin and is crossed in its center by a mountain range. It is the most southerly of the Windward Islands.
Visitors can admire the most varied landscapes here: form tropical rainforests to gorges, from the mystery of dormant volcanoes to pretty white-sandy beaches.
St George's, the capital, is worth-visiting as you can find the Carenage, a beautiful inner harbour with 18th-century warehouses and restaurants, the botanical gardens and Fort George.
Heading north from the capital towards Spice country, vacationers can see some of the prettiest fishing villages on the island. Levera Bay and Grand Anse are said to be the island's best beaches. The highest waterfall is the great Mount Carmel.
Grenadian people are mainly Roman Catholic and their official language is English. The country has a a rainy season (from June to December) and a dry season (from January to May). Grenadian specialties include calaloo soup, crabs, conches (lambi) and nutmeg ice-cream. Grenada's currency is the East Caribbean Dollar.
Some tips to take into account when visiting Grenada: the electricity runs on 220/240 Volts and the country code is 473.
