OVERVIEW
Ankara is the official capital of Turkey (with a total of three million people) and the administrative center of the country. All the government buildings are found here as well as offices and embassies of foreign powers. The city has different Colleges and a university. Most of the important companies in the world have a branch here. Poor country people are attracted to the city in search of happiness and good fortune. The result is the many slum areas (gecekondus) that stretch around Ankara.
The old fortification hill has been left untouched. Around the hill lies the old Osman town where time has not passed by. A few hundred meters away from here we can see modern hotel towers. This strange combination of two different worlds depicts the identity crisis the Turkish nation is experiencing.
Some activities include a trip to Cappadocia and visiting the museum of Anatolian civilizations and the Ataturk Mausoleum.
