Hobart is the capital of Tasmaniat. It is the Southernmost capital city in Australia and the second oldest capital city. It provides tourists with both history in its Georgian buildings and harbour, and modern features. It is surrounded by Derwent River and Mt. Wellington.
Hobart is quite small with the Elizabeth Street Mall in the center. There is another shopping area along Elizabeth Street. Those interested in history can visit the Georgian warehouses along the river and the colony district of Battery Point. Further along the river you can visit the university and casino on Sandy Bay. To the north of the city is The Domain, a recreation centre, which includes the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. You can also find a bridge crossing to the east and the airport.
The accommodation in Hobart ranges from hostels, hotels, and motels, to campsites and bed and breakfasts. There are a few places to stay around Hobart, the most popular being New Town, North Hobart, Sandy Bay Batteri Point, Glebe, and West Hobart.
