OVERVIEW
The city of Canberra is the capital of Australian Capital Territory. Though originally designed in 1911, the city developed after World War II. It offers visitors a view of beautiful architecture and large greenlands. The city surrounds Lake Burley Griffin, a pretty artificial lake. It is located to the North of the lake, Northbourne Avenue being its main road.
Canberra is the right place for outdoor activities such as bushwalking, cycling and skiing as it is surrounded by hills and green areas. There is a variety of very attractive National Parks which visitors cannot miss.
City lovers can also enjoy their visit to Canberra as it offers a lively entertainment scene (including theatres and cinemas) as well as an approach to its culture and history (Government House, Parliament House, Old Parliament House, the National Gallery of Australia and the Australian National Botanic Gardens).
The principal tourist attractions are on the triangle made up of Commonwealth Avenue, Constitution Avenue and Kings Avenue, where visitors will find the main shopping centers, banks, post offices and bus terminals.
