OVERVIEW
Antwerp is the second largest city of Belgium and second largest harbor of Europe. It is called the 'Metropoli' by its inhabitants- known for not being too modest.
The city is famous for its architecture, most of which date from the 16th and 17th century. Unfortunately, the destructions of the Second World War have affected its face. However, there are still enough monuments left for those wishing to admire them. Paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, who lived in the Antwerp of the early 17th century, are also found here.
Antwerp is the diamond center of the World. Therefore, you should not miss visiting the diamond district which is also the Jewish part of the city.
Antwerp, however, is not only the past. It has earned a place among the fashion cities of the world thanks to the efforts of numerous young Flemish fashion designers. The fashion area of Antwerp is located near the Meir shopping street.
