Situated in the province of Valencia, Gandia is a coastal city which boasts excellent beaches, astonishing landscape, and a renowned past.
Some of Gandia's main tourist attractions are the Ducal Palace, built between the 14th and 15th centuries; the collegiate church of Santa Maria, whose Door of the Apostles originally had carvings by Damia Forment; the Archaeological Museum, displaying important prehistoric finds; the convent of Santa Clara; the City Hall, and the hospital of San Marcos.
Some of Gandia's most popular beaches are North Beach, L'Ahuir, Venecia and Rafalcaid. Sport-lovers will be able to sail, windsurf or dive in the harbour area.
Gandia's most typical speciality is "fideua", a dish made in the same way as paella, but with noodles instead of rice.
Important festivals in Gandia are the Fallas (March), and Easter (between March and April). Also of interest are the festivals in honour of San Francisco de Borja.
