Located in the province of Alicante and dominated by the Rock of Ifach, Calpe is famous for its astonishing landscape, marina and excellent beaches.
But Calpe's most important attraction is the Rock of Ifach, which has been declared a Nature Reserve. From this rock, visitors can appreciate the best views of Calpe and its coastline.
Some of Calpe's most important beaches are La Fossa and Arenal. If you are looking for a quiet place, don't miss the coves in the bay, such as Les Bassetes, La Manzanera and Les Urques.
Adventure-lovers can go climbing to the Rock of Ifach, or go potholing to the Barranc del Mascarat and the Olta Mountain.
Calpe's main tourist attractions are the church of the Virgin of the Snow, the only Gothic-Mudejar temple in the region of Valencia; the hermitages of La Cometa and San Salvador, from the 17th century; Casa Nova, a farm which looks like a fortress, and Pou Salat, the former water supply.
Calpe holds several important events: Carnival (February), Fallas de San Jose (March 19), the Bonfires of San Juan (June 24), and the festival of Moors and Christians (October).
