OVERVIEW
On one side of the river Po, Turin is the second biggest city of northern Italy. It is famous for its grid street-plan making it easy to find your way about.
Via Roma is the central spine of the city, where designer shops and refined cafes can be found. It also boasts the city's most elegant piazzas, most notably Piazza San Carlo, close to some of the most prestigious museums. Piazza Castello, with its royal palaces, is at the end of Via Roma. To the west, Via Pietro Micca leads to a number of pedestrianized shopping streets. To the north, Piazza della Repubblica, featuring a daily market. To the southeast, the porticoes of Via Po and the vast Parco del Valentino, home to some of the city's best nightlife. Other places of interest include the Museo dell'Automobile, the Basilica di Superga and the Stupingi Palace.
