OVERVIEW
Thessaloniki, capital of Macedonia, is the second largest city of Greece. Its main feature is the White Tower as well as many important sites not far away.
It is also famous for being the cradle of the Greek Blues- the Rebetica songs. These songs were brought into the urban and poorer port areas of Greece by Asia Minor Greek refugees after the Balkan Wars of 1913 and the fall of Constantinople in 1921. Most popular Greek musical artists of today were born here and some, in fact, have become quite popular internationally.
Visitors can enjoy its excellent music in nightclubs, dance halls, discos, cafes and music bars. It is not the cultural capital of Greece by chance.
